Description
The Aseako Rossa II Electric Bike is another in our unique electric bicycle range. A full dual suspension frame design with high set adjustable handlebars it offers a great on-road and off-road riding experience with excellent hill climbing ability and extended range. It has all of the features of our standard Aseako Tourney but with some really nice upgrades.
Upgrade Features:
- NuVinci 380 Continuously variable gear drive instead of the standard 8 speed Shimano external gears offering smoother changes and less maintenance
- Rock Shox front suspension forks with adjustment and lockout instead of the standard Zoom Forks
- Smart LCD control panel with 5 power levels and distance management – speed, trip distance.
These upgrades are in addition to the following great standard features
- Tektro disc brakes front and back with electric motor cut-off function for additional safety
- Velo Air seat – wide and extremely comfortable making for a great ride
- Our unique mid-drive motor that works with the gears to provide improved hill climbing ability and better battery performance
- Raised handlebar height to provide a more upright riding position for those who prefer that. Otherwise simply adjust it back down.
- Integrated front and rear lighting
- Built in rear rack suitable for attaching pannier bags or baskets to carry those extra items.
Current 250W Legislation states that electric bikes must be speed limited to 25kph under pedal assist mode and 6kph under twist throttle mode. If you plan on riding your ASEAKO bike off road, you will be able to disable the speed limiter which will then allow you to reach a top speed of up to 28 -32kmh subject to riding conditions i.e. incline, wind etc. and rider size. With a small amount of assistance from the rider you could potentially exceed this speed.
Please note that in off-road mode, it is not legal to ride on public roads and pathways.
Range on one battery charge can technically be up to 60 or more km per charge however this is under optimum riding conditions and using good rider management – i.e. efficient use of power levels, gears and reasonable rider input. On average we find a more realistic expectation is around 30 – 40km depending on terrain, rider size, rider input level and weather conditions such as wind and rain. This is based on using “Medium / High” power assist mode most of the time. If a lower level of “power assist” is used then your battery capacity will increase significantly.
Our Pedal Assist System engages the motor when the rider starts to pedal, the motor stops assisting when the rider stops pedaling, the brakes are applied or you reach the legal top pedal assist speed of 25km p/hr.
There are 3 levels of power assistance: Low, Med & High.
Our bikes also feature a Twist Throttle control which is located on the left hand grip. (Due to the gear levers being located on the RHS) This function makes it easy to get moving from a standing start up to 6km/h (reasonable walking speed) rather than having to get the bike moving manually and wait for the pedal assist function to kick in. In off-road mode, this means you can simply ride the bike under throttle only with no pedaling but again please note that in off-road mode, it is not legal to ride on public roads and pathways.

Mike Tobin (verified owner) –
I had promised myself that I would buy an electric bike when I turned 70. One of my riding companions had been riding an ASEAKO Tourney since May 1970 and was very happy with it. I had also ridden it a couple of times. Like him, I had decided I wanted a central drive rather than hub drive and a dual suspension a la trail bike layou. Aseako may not have the asethics of some of the ‘integrated’ design e-bkies with battery and motor ‘blended’ into the frames but Aseako bikes were the most affordable, especially when looking for front and rear suspensions. I selected the large frame Rossa II for the upgraded front forks, the more elaborate control/display panel (5 levels of assistance) and upgraded to the 15 Amp battery as we cover some distance on our rides. In the 12 months since purchase I have done just over 3,000km and the bike has delivered as promised. The longest ride has been 100km whic I suspect is about the limit of battery – I do most ridining at level 2 assist (Econ) saving the higher levels of assistance for the most demamnding climbs (if anyone is familary with Melbourne’s Upper Ferntree Gully to Belgrave climb that’s typical). The dual suspension and air seat make for a comfortable ride. The throttle feature makes starting from stop effortless. No doubt this bike is noticeably heavier than a standard bike but hey you’ve got assistance. You need to be aware of the weight when walking the bike in pedestrian areas and keep your hand away from the throttle. The battery can be recharged overnight.
